WWE superstar Seth Rollins was first seen on the set of Captain America: Brave New World last month, and there was speculation at the time that she could be among the actors playing members of the villainous Serpent Society. A reliable insider now appears to have confirmed this, revealing (via TheRingReport.com) that Rollins will take on the role of Cobra. The pro wrestler is also rumored to have wrapped up filming after missing a couple weeks of Monday Night RAW, further suggesting that the film itself may be close to wrapping up (which would explain Anthony Mackie's recent social media post).
There have been a couple of Cobras in the Marvel Universe, though we imagine Rollins could be playing an amalgamation of the original, Klaus Voorhees, and his nephew Piet Voorhees. While the former led the pack for a time, that role should go to Diamondback, so Marvel Studios will likely borrow more from the second version of the character. He is a mercenary who acquired his superhuman abilities after being injected with the same irradiated poison that transformed his uncle.
Captain America: Brave New World, what we know about the Film
Captain America: Brave New World will pick up where the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier left off, following former Falcon Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) after he formally takes over the role of Captain America. Director Julius Onah (Luce, The Cloverfield Paradox) described the film as a "paranoid thriller" and confirmed it will see the return of The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson), who began his radioactive transformation at the end of The Incredible Hulk of 2008.
Alita: Battle Angel star Rosa Salazar is reportedly playing the villain Diamondback. Although therefore it will have elements outside of human nature, the film will bring the Marvel Cinematic Universe back to a more terrestrial and realistic dimension, as has already been done by the previous films dedicated to Captain America. As of now, Captain America: Brave New World is listed as one of the most important titles in Phase 5.
