The Flash: Director Andy Muschietti explains why he contacted Zack Snyder

While alternate timelines are involved, The Flash is technically set in the DC universe established by Zack Snyder's films, and director Andy Muschietti recently confirmed that his film "honors" what has transpired so far in the constructed DC Extended Universe. by Snyder. “I would like Zack to watch this movie. I think we honored the part of the film that he created in terms of characters and characterizations. And cast. So, I think he'd like that,” the director explained.

It's unknown whether Snyder has already seen the film or not, but Muchietti has now revealed that he's reached out to the Justice League director to reassure him that The Flash will fully respect the world he helped create. “I spoke to Zack“, Muschietti now tells Total Film. “But it wasn't to talk about technique or narrative or anything. I just wanted to reach out and say, 'Hey.' Because we've never met before, and I just wanted to tell him we'd respect the things he's done before." “Man of Steel is obviously central to this movie because Zod's great threat to Earth is a big twist in this story,” Muschiett adds.

“And that's something most DC fans know very well, and it's one of the big things that can shape the narrative of this film,” Muschietti concluded. While it may seem hard to believe given how much time has passed and the recent reboot of the DC Universe, many fans are still hoping to see the "SnyderVerse" restored in some form. While the chances of that happening are now virtually non-existent, The Flash (somehow) leaves the door open for other stories set in the previous era.

The Flash, what we know about the Film

The Flash will be released in cinemas on June 15, 2023, distributed by Warner Bros Italia. In it, worlds will collide when Barry will use his superpowers to travel back in time and change the events of the past. But when an attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry is trapped in a reality where General Zod has returned, threatening destruction, and with no Super Hero to turn to.

Barry's only hope is to bring a decidedly different Batman out of retirement to save an imprisoned Kryptonian. Ultimately, to save the world he finds himself in and return to the future he knows, Barry's only hope is to 'run for his life'. But will this ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
