Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has found his next big film project, which he will pursue once production on the next film starring the Marvel hero concludes. Reynolds will appear in Apple Original Films' Mayday and Skydance, alongside actor and director Kenneth Branagh (Murder on the Nile, Belfast). Deadline reports that Mayday could be the next thing the actor is working on.
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will direct the film. According to some sources, the script for the film is already completed and has not been stopped by the Hollywood screenwriters' strike. Goldstein and Daley co-directed and wrote the recent Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, but they also have ties to the Marvel world by co-writing Spider-Man: Homecoming. The film is based on an original story by Goldstein and Daley, who both joined the American production company Skydance earlier this year.
At the moment it is not known when filming will begin or even what role Ryan Reynolds will play. With his reputation as a star, he will surely be the protagonist! Reynolds showed interest in the project in April, giving the film real momentum among Hollywood producers. Mayday will reunite the Deadpool star with Apple, with whom he co-crafted the holiday musical Spirited, released last year. Reynolds is currently filming Deadpool 3.
Mayday is produced by Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger along with Reynolds, Ashley Fox, Johnny Pariseau, and Patrick Gooing for Maximum Effort. Goldstein and Daley will direct and write the project and serve as producers, with Carin Sage overseeing the project on behalf of Skydance.
