On the occasion of Ghostbusters Day Jason Reitman, the director of Ghostbusters: Afterlife (the last chapter of the cult franchise) and co-writer of the next sequel shared on social networks the first teaser poster of the fourth chapter showing the iconic logo frozen in the ice.
Directing the new film, as yet untitled, we find the director of Monster House and Poltergeist Gil Kenan. Kenan also co-wrote Ghostbusters: Afterlife with Jason Reitman. Sony's Ghost Corps company, founded in 2015 to expand the Ghostbusters franchise, is producing under Reitman's Right of Way Films for Columbia Pictures. Gil Kenan will also serve as executive producer.
The fourth film will take us back to the origins, as it will once again be set in the fire station of New York City, with a new team of fearless Ghostbusters: Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd) and the Spengler family consisting of Callie (Carrie Coon), Trevor (Finn Wolfhard) and Phoebe (Mckenna Grace).
Reitman revealed the poster, which you see below, to celebrate Ghostbusters Day: the annual anniversary of the original film's release on June 8, 1984. On TikTok, the film's star Mckenna Grace shared a video revealing the inside of the restored headquarters.
Alongside the live-action sequel, Sony is also developing the previously announced animated film from Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind the Academy Award-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Verse – and Reitman and Kenan's Ghostbusters animated series to air on Netflix as part of a new expanding universe.
