Barbie is a famous doll from the 60s that completely changed the world of children's toys, proposing an emancipated and libertine character, in full line with the transformations linked to the economic boom and the rebirth of Capitalism. A figure who, however, continues to be fundamental to the dolls and who, apparently, will have a totally dedicated project. The film, directed in particular by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird, Little Women), stars Barbie (played by Margot Robbie) as the blonde doll who one day realizes she feels human and decides to escape from Barbieland in the company of legendary Ken (who has the face of Ryan Gosling).

While preparations are being made for the arrival of Barbie in theaters this summer, one of the stars of the film, Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education, The Last Love Letter), spoke a lot in an interview for RTE good not only for the project but also for the director and other co-workers, demonstrating that the production of the feature film turned out to be very calm and relaxed.
“Working with Greta, Margot, and Ryan was amazing, they are all top creators of their game, who are so friendly and lovely, and they took their work seriously but never themselves.”
In particular, within Barbie, Gatwa actually embodies one of the versions of Ken (although the main one has the face of Ryan Gosling). The Realization, produced by Heyday Films, LuckyChap Entertainment, and Mattel Films, with distribution by Warner Bros., arrives in Italian cinemas on July 20, 2023. The cast, however, also sees the participation of America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Alexandra Shipp, Michael Cera, Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, and many more.
