Robert Downey Jr. |
Robert Downey Jr. (full name, Robert John Downey Jr.) is a famous American actor and film producer born on April 4, 1965, in New York, probably one of the best-known faces of the current Hollywood scene with a large following audience and an artistic renaissance that began thanks to Marvel which allowed him to restart an acting career after a period that was not very easy on a personal level. In particular, the star, even before starting his collaboration with Marvel, boasts appearances in projects such as The Great Promise (1988), Final Verdict (1989), Charlot (1992), Natural Born Killers (1994), Richard III (1995) and many other titles.
Robert Downey Jr. entered the world of Marvel in 2008
Robert Downey Jr.'s career breakthrough year was clearly 2008 when he made his big screen debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Tony Stark/Iron-Man, a role he has continued up to Avengers: Endgame (2019) which represented a huge triumph for his artistic life. Apparently, however, the star had been considered for another character within the universe of The House of Ideas, as confessed by the director of the aforementioned film, Jon Favreau (The Lion King, The Mandalorian), during a recent meeting with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the cinecomic.
As reported by The Independent, in fact, it emerged that initially, Robert Downey Jr. should have embodied Doctor Doom in Tim Story's Fantastic Four feature film, which arrived in Italian cinemas in 2005, the antagonist who was then played by Julian McMahon (FBI: Most Wanted, The Power of Money). In this regard, Feige himself declared that RDJ's casting as Tony Stark turned out to be one of the best casting choices in the history of cinema, and in fact, considering how much luck this idea has led to, we can only agree with him.
