Citadel is certainly one of the television projects of the moment: we are talking, in fact, of an ambitious spy-thriller television series, produced by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Endgame) which has the ambition to kick off a truly impressive narrative universe, with various national productions that work side by side to give life to a truly special shared world.

The Realization, in particular, (at least the American version) made its debut with the first season, at the end of April 2023 on Prime Video, managing to collect a lot of acclaim all over the world, especially in countries like India, Italy, Brazil, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States: it is the second most watched Prime original series outside of America and the fourth most watched worldwide.

As a recent press release reports, Citadel has been renewed for a second season (with all the episodes personally directed by Joe Russo) and this should not be surprising considering the great results that the work has achieved in this time. On the occasion of this milestone, the first episode of Season 1 will be made available for free (even without a Prime subscription) outside the United States, from May 26 to 28, 2023. In this regard, here are the enthusiastic words of Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon and MGM Studios.

“Our goal has always been to create a new franchise based on an original idea that would grow Prime Video's international audience. This show has attracted a huge number of new viewers to Prime Video from many parts of the world. The massive global audience for this debut is a testament to the extraordinary vision of Joe and Anthony Russo, the incredible talent of Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Lesley Manville, and Stanley Tucci, and the tireless work of the creative teams, cast, and crew. In light of the extraordinary number of customers who have enjoyed this show, we are not only thrilled to make the first episode of Citadel available globally without a subscription, but we are also happy to confirm that the series will return for a second season.”
